This is a drawing study I am currently working on to plan a painting using the lobster lying on a quilt. I have seen a painting of a lobster by Mardsen Hartley at the Art & Appetite exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago that is inspiring. Also another work there by Jan Matulka that includes lobsters in a still life. The quilt background is a painting of a quilt with an interlocking snail pattern sewn by my Mother Sarah. The concept is a solution for an upcoming Sauk County Art Association member show in January.
